Seneca Park Zoo
Seneca Park Zoo first opened twenty-five years ago. Ten years ago it closed for two years because the owners wanted to make it better. The new zoo is now in its eighth year. Now, it doesn’t have so many kinds of animals but all its animals have plenty of room to move around. ‘This is a zoo, not a circus,’ says keeper Stan Berry. ‘You are not allowed to give food to any of our animals or take photos of them. Some zoos allow children to play with the farm animals, but we don’t. But we give children pencil and paper when they come into the zoo so they can make their own pictures if they like.’ The zoo also has The Ark, where you can watch films about the animals. It shows where they come from and how they live in the wild. You must not take food or drink into The Ark, but there is a shop and a café outside. Single adult tickets are £8 and children’s tickets are £4. Or you can buy a family ticket (two adults and four children) for £20. There are also group tickets for parties of 10 plus. There is also a new Zoo Hotel. It opened last year and is about 500 metres from the zoo. It has cheap family rooms, but also more expensive rooms.

Handshake
1Management Consultant Robert E. Brown explains what shaking hands is all about in his book, The Art, the Power, the Magic: How to Read Hands That Talk.
2For example, to do the All-American Handshake, you have to look into another person's eyes, grasp his or her whole hand, and pump it two or three times. According to Brown, this is the handshake of a good listener and trustworthy person.
3Politicians and salespeople often use the Two-Handed Shake because it's extra-friendly. Two-handed shakers put their left hand on the other person's arm or shoulder as they shake hands. This can feel too friendly to some people, so it's best to use it with good friends.
4Watch out for people with handshakes that pull your fingers, or twist and crush your hand. If you get one of these handshakes, the person is trying to intimidate you. Two more uncomfortable handshakes are the Palm Pinch and the Dead Fish. A Palm Pincher shakes your hand with only a few fingers. In the Dead Fish shake, the person's hand slides out of the handshake. It's possible that the people with these handshakes are embarrassed or shy.
5Shaking hands is an important part of body language. It can identify someone as truthful, friendly, powerful, or nervous. It's hard to be successful without mastering a good handshake such as the All-American. If this isn't your natural handshake, don't worry. Mr. Brown says that you can change your handshake with lots of practice. So, go on out there and start shaking hands. Just think of all the people you can meet!
39. What might be the reason for Robert E. Brown’s writing the book called The Art, the Power, the Magic: How to Read Hands That Talk?
40. It can be inferred from the text that if you don’t want to make a bad impression on the person you have met for the first time, you should prefer the -----.

Hackers
1These days, computers and information technology are common around the world. Because of this, many words related to computers are used in everyday conversations. For example, almost everyone knows the word ‘hacker’. Hackers are excellent programmers who can write programs that are efficient and even artistic. They take great pride in their work. They are very happy about what they are doing.
2The term ‘hacker’ was first used at MIT (the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) around 1969. The word ‘hack’ was already in use at MIT to describe student pranks which were often very creative tricks or jokes. Computers were new to universities at that time, and there were not many computer manuals or trainers available. So the students had to figure things out by themselves most of the time. In the process, they often wrote small sections of codes to make programs do what they wanted. This soon became known as ‘hacking’ because the students had to use their creativity, just as they used their creativity for their pranks. Because of this history, hackers consider themselves noble and curious people. They use hacking to satisfy their curiosity and to learn new computer skills, but while doing this they do not destroy anything or cause trouble.
3In fact, hackers have an ethical belief: “Do no harm.” They believe it as all right to probe a computer system for vulnerability, as long as none of the data is damaged. In addition, they always notify the administrator of the system so that the weakness can be patched (or “repaired”).
4Hackers are sometimes hired by companies to test computer security. The hacker will try to break into the company’s computer system. If he or she finds a way to break in, the company can fix the problem. In recent years, even governments have been hiring hackers to improve national security.
5Hackers spend a lot of time developing technology. In fact, if it were not for hackers, the only products available to computer users would be expensive commercial products from companies like Microsoft. Who do you think writes those freeware programs we download? For example, Netscape Navigator was developed by hackers. They spend hundreds of hours working on projects and receive no pay at all. They do it because it is challenging or because they want to make a better product. Hackers are misunderstood heroes of modern culture. Without them, we would not have such excellent computer systems.
